Swimming is a self propulsion of a person through water, usually for recreation, sport, exercise or survival. Swimming is a good all round activity because it keeps one’s heart rate up and reduces stress. It builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. This is the reason our young Heartians are encouraged to swim. Everyday they are trained by the swimming coaches under the supervision of the teachers in charge.

Global warming has increased the Earth ‘s temperature by 1.5 degrees Celsius and more in at least one season. Swimming in hot weather is one of the best ways to cool off and avoid heat exhaustion or stroke, as long as the water is not hot. There is a myth that it is not good to swim in the winter season. Swimming during winter may actually boost the immunity level of a child making him less prone to viral and other infections. This is the reason regular cold water swimmers do not fall sick.
