Robolution 2026, an inter-school technology fest organised by Sacred Heart School, Siliguri, brought together students from 13 schools across Siliguri, Darjeeling, Kurseong and Kalimpong. St. Joseph’s School, North Point, Darjeeling, Himalayan International Residential School, Rockvale Academy, St. Anthony’s School (Girls and Boys) and Little Angels School, were among the participating institutions. Held on 29 August 2026, the event provided students with an opportunity to explore robotics, drone technology, 3D designing, virtual reality, e-sports and future-focused innovation while applying their technical knowledge in practical situations and developing creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
A distinctive feature of the fest was the introduction of Robo War and Sky Sprint Drone Race, both conducted for the first time in North Bengal. These events offered students an opportunity to experience emerging technologies in a competitive and interactive environment. They generated considerable interest among students, with participants and spectators showing enthusiasm to understand the technology involved and observe the different approaches adopted by competing teams.
The Sky Sprint Drone Race took the excitement beyond the ground, with students putting their precision and control to the test as they manoeuvred drones through the race course. Conducted for the first time in North Bengal, the event drew keen interest from students, who closely followed the races and watched the pilots navigate their drones through the obstacle course. The competition offered a glimpse into the practical applications of drone technology while adding a new dimension to the fest. Darjeeling Public School, Siliguri, secured first position, followed by Endeavour Global School, Siliguri, in second and Sacred Heart School in third.
Robo Race presented a different challenge, testing the participants’ ability to control their robots with accuracy and consistency while navigating the designated track. The competition drew the attention of students who closely followed the performance of the participating teams.
Robo War emerged as one of the major attractions of the fest. Teams had to design and operate robots while using strategy and precision to compete against their opponents. The event required participants to combine technical preparation with quick decision-making and effective teamwork.
Pickleverse: VR Pickleball combined technology with sport through an immersive virtual reality experience. As one of the events being introduced for the first time in North Bengal, it generated curiosity among students and provided an opportunity to experience a familiar sport in an entirely digital setting. Sacred Heart School, Siliguri, secured first position, followed by St. Anthony’s School (Boys), Kurseong, in second place and Darjeeling Public School, Siliguri, in third.
The CreateX 3D Designing Competition provided another platform for students to combine technological skills with creativity. Conducted in Junior and Senior categories, the competition required participants to develop 3D digital designs and demonstrate their understanding of digital modelling. In the Junior category, Sacred Heart School secured first position, Auxilium Convent School stood second, while Endeavour Global School and Sacred Heart School shared third position. In the Senior category, St. Anthony’s School (Girls) secured first position, Sacred Heart School stood second and Auxilium Convent School finished third.
The Valorant E-Sports competition added an e-sports component to the fest, with each participating school represented by one student. The competition tested individual gaming ability, quick decision-making, strategic thinking and composure under pressure. Sacred Heart School, Siliguri, secured first position, followed by St. Joseph’s School, North Point, Darjeeling, in second and Mayoor School, Siliguri, in third.
The Innoverse: Future Innovation Project focused on students’ ability to develop and present innovative ideas. The competition encouraged participants to consider future possibilities and explore technology as a means of addressing challenges through creative solutions. Little Angels School, Siliguri, secured first position, Sacred Heart School, Siliguri, stood second and St. Joseph’s School, North Point, Darjeeling, secured third position.
The wide range of competitions ensured that students with different interests and abilities could participate. While some students demonstrated their skills in robotics and drone technology, others explored digital design, gaming, virtual reality and innovation. The opportunity to observe projects and competitions beyond their own areas of participation also encouraged students to learn from one another.
The programme was attended by a distinguished gathering of educators, technology professionals and innovators. Mr. Subhasish Mukhopadhyay, Principal of Siliguri Polytechnic, was the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included Mr. Pradip Kumar Basu, Professor at Siliguri Polytechnic; Capt. Prakash Pradhan, Principal of Rockvale Academy, Kalimpong; Mr. Chetan Tewari, Principal of St Anthony’s School, Kurseong; Mrs. Bobby Tewatri, Principal of St Anthony’s School, Kurseong (Girls); Mr. Ankit Shekhar Pradhan, Principal of Green Lawn’s School, Mirik, who also served as a Judge; Mr. Ritesh Agarwal, Co-founder of Appy Codes and Nexis Business School, who served as Guest of Honour and Judge; Mr. Avirup Basu, Director and Co-founder of Blackspektro, a technology company, who served as a Judge; and Mr. Keshav Agarwal, Founder and CEO of 2gather.in, who attended as Special Guest and Judge.
Beyond the competitive aspect, Robolution 2026 encouraged students to engage with technology through direct experience. The enthusiasm shown by students while observing the competitions and interacting with different technology-based activities reflected their growing interest in emerging fields. The event also demonstrated the value of providing students with opportunities to experiment, collaborate and apply concepts beyond the classroom.
For the participating students, the experience extended beyond the final rankings. Robotics required patience and precision, drone racing demanded concentration and control, 3D designing combined creativity with technical knowledge, while innovation projects encouraged students to look at problems from new perspectives. Each activity provided a different form of learning while retaining the excitement of inter-school competition.
Robolution 2026 ultimately brought together technology and experiential learning on a common platform. By introducing new formats and giving students opportunities to engage with emerging technologies, the fest encouraged them to move from being consumers of technology to becoming creators, problem-solvers and innovators. The enthusiasm of the students throughout the event reflected the growing curiosity among young learners to understand, experiment with and explore the possibilities offered by technology.
