Date: 18th and 19th September 2026,
Sacred Heart School organised its first-ever Youth Parliament, Future Leaders’ Summit 2026, on 18th and 19th September. The two-day intra-school event provided our students with an opportunity to experience parliamentary proceedings, express their views and engage with important issues through discussion, debate and deliberation.
The summit aimed to encourage students to become confident speakers, develop critical thinking skills and understand the importance of informed decision-making and responsible leadership. By stepping into the roles of young parliamentarians, our students experienced how ideas can be presented, questioned and discussed in a structured setting.
The event was graced by Mr. Tarun Kedia, Digital Content Creator and Political/Social Issues Commentator, as the Chief Guest on Day 1. A Siliguri-based digital content creator, Mr. Kedia’s work focuses on Indian politics, geopolitics and social issues, with a combined online audience of over 3 million.
On Day 2, the event was graced by Mr. Tekendra Pradhan, Additional District Judge (Retired) and President of the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (DCDRC), Siliguri, with additional charge of DCDRC, Darjeeling and Kalimpong.
Throughout the two days, our students participated with great energy and enthusiasm, taking on different parliamentary roles and presenting their arguments with confidence. The sessions encouraged them to research issues, organise their thoughts, communicate their viewpoints clearly and respond thoughtfully to opposing arguments. The experience helped students strengthen their public speaking, critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills while developing a deeper understanding of parliamentary procedures and democratic dialogue.
The event also provided a platform for students to listen to different perspectives, engage in constructive discussions and appreciate the value of respectful disagreement. Taking part in the proceedings encouraged them to think beyond their individual viewpoints, consider different sides of an issue and express their ideas with clarity and conviction.
The event was organised with the guidance and support of Mr. Niloy Hait, Ms. Sanjeevani Tamrakar, Mrs. Indrani Goswami, Ms. Sambita Saha and Ms. Nivedita Singha.
The organising team included Convenor Deepjyoti Barman, Deputy Convenor Nilanjana Das, Organising Executives Nilanjan Pal and Avishikta Paul, Organising Executives Aahnaf Ahmed Adib, Ayushman Sharma and Aadarsh Kumar Dwivedi, and Co-speakers Rahul Paul and Joel Guha. Their efforts and coordination contributed to the successful conduct of the summit.
The summit also featured caricature artwork created by Akansha Dalania, adding a creative touch to the event and showcasing our student’s artistic talent.
